Blelham Tarn |
Loughrigg Tarn | |
Is the cabin open throughout the year..?
Our season runs from March 1st until 15th November and from December 21st to January 4th, each year. We are open at Christmas and New Year, however, communal facilities (pool, sauna, Jacuzzi etc. are closed at this time) . Back to Top |
||
Is smoking permitted..?
No. The
lodge is designated a complete no-smoking zone. It not only smells
and so is annoying to us and other guests who may follow you, but it
is now against the law (you are in a public place). It also
invalidates our fire insurance.
|
||
|
Do we get a price reduction for less than 4 people staying..? Unfortunately not. You pay to rent the property irrespective of the number of occupants up to the agreed maximum. Back to Top |
||
Can we book a stag party.. ?
Bookings
are only accepted from family groups (i.e. Couples with or without
children). We do not accept parties where there are more than two
adults of the same gender, per party. |
||
Can we book last minute..?Our reputation for high quality often results in us being booked far in advance. We only have one cabin, not dozens like the commercial parks and so when it's booked that's it. We therefore suggest that when you see dates available which suit your diary that you make an online booking there and then. Back to Top |
||
What does the price include..?
Just
about everything... The prices shown on the
dates and
prices page covers
the complete rental charge regardless of number of occupants (up to
4 max.) and so the only additional charges are £1 coin-meters which
control supply of electricity for the lodge and the sauna. Use of
all additional facilities: pool, Jacuzzi and Sauna are
free-of-charge. (Note these facilities are closed between November
15th and March 1st). |
||
How much do we have to pay for utilities..?
Power
and water are costs are covered by pre-payment of electricity which
is supplied through a coin meter. Experience has shown that the
typical cost for 2 guests in the summer will be approx £3 per day.
Conversely, 4 Guests in autumn can expect to pay no more than £5 per
day. “Your mileage may vary.” |
||
At what times do we have to arrive and depart..?
The
cabin will be available to occupy at 3pm on the first day of your
holiday. If you arrive at this time it is possible that the maid
will be available to greet you and to show you around. When leaving
you should be packed and departed by 11am. |
||
Can we hire linens/towels and what's included..?If you do not take up the linens option then you can expect the beds to have mattress protectors, pillows and TOG 13.5 duvets. For an additional charge we can supply each guest with a pack of linens and towels comprising: White cotton sheets, duvet covers, pillowcases, a selection of fluffy Egyptian 600gm cotton towels, face-cloths, tea-towels and dish cloth (in addition to J-cloth).
If you purchase the linens option then beds will be made up ready for your arrival.
When
filling out your booking form: Order
a single pack foe 1 person in one of the twin beds. |
||
Can we bring our pet..?Yes and No. We welcome a well behaved family dog, (there is a small cost) but unfortunately we can't accommodate your pet cat, hamster, goldfish, iguana etc. Dog owners must observe the local fouling regulations and remove any evidence of their stay in the lodge before leaving.
When
filling out your booking form please be sure to advise us that you
will be bring a pet to avoid any retrospective charges which will be
levied after your stay. |
||
Is there a bar or restaurant in the park..?
Unlike
commercial sites Neaum Crag has no central clubhouse, bar or
restaurant. The emphasis is on peace and tranquillity rather than
organized activity. There are a number of good value pubs and high
quality restaurants within a short distance of the lodge. More
detailed information is available in the Guests Welcome Folder when
you arrive. |
||
Will my mobile phone work when we arrive..?
Coverage
at the lodge is sporadic on all four primary networks. Most networks
are useable in Ambleside. An improvement in service will depend upon
the outcome of pending planning applications for masts in the
locality. A recent application for one to be placed at Neaum Crag
has been overturned. A payphone is located within the lodge; it is
set to BT standard payphone rates and it will accept incoming calls. |
||
Where can I get the bus..?Our advice is not to rely upon a bus if you are visiting Blelham Tarn unless it is to take a ride on some of the UK's most scenic bus journeys. Stagecoach run a frequent'ish circular service (The Coniston Rambler) during the tourist season which starts at Windermere and runs through Ambleside, Skelwith Bridge, Coniston and Hawkshead. (It calls at the car park of the Skelwith Bridge Hotel.) An additional service which runs from Ambleside along the Langdale Valley and back, twice a day, stops at the same place as The Rambler. An up to date timetable is often posted in the window of the office at the pool hall. Back to Top |
||
What about wheelchair access. Is it on the level..?
Remember
you're going to be in a woodland park. The service roads are made-up
but many of the pathways are gravel. From the car parking area at
Blelham Tarn there are 11 shallow steps with a hand rail going down
towards the lodge and then a gravel path. The patio doors are wide
enough to accept a wheelchair, although there is one step up onto
the deck to gain access. The bedroom and bathroom doors are standard
width and so will not accommodate a regular wheelchair. It would
not, therefore, be suitable for someone in a wheelchair without
assistance. |
||
Where can I park my car. Will it be safe..?
There
are two private car parking spaces at Blelham Tarn. Car
crime in the locality is extremely low, however, if you are paranoid
about leaving your car you should be aware that the car will not be
visible from the lodge except through the shower room window. |
